Understanding How to Calculate Your Air Conditioner’s Electricity Consumption : A Guide

One may often find themselves asking, How much electricity does my air conditioner really take up? It is actually quite simple.
We will be using our ArtiqAir 1.0HP Inverter as a reference for you to better understand the process.

First, we need to convert the “Watt” value to “KiloWatt”’. This can be done with the simple equation below:
Watt value 1000 + kW(h) [Kilowatts per hour]

Example:
The 1.0HP Ez Series Inverter input is 1052 Watts.
1052W 1000 = 1.052 kW(h)

Now, we need to convert the Kilowatt value into the number of hours used in a day. We will be taking the average air conditioner unit usage time of 8 hours a day as an example.
kW(h) x Number of hours used

Example:
1.052kWh x 8 hours = 8.416kWh

Lastly, multiply it by 30 days in a month, and you will get the kWh usage value for the month.
kWh (a day) x 30 = kWh (a month)

Example:
8.416kWh x 30 = 252.46kWh

Electricity Consumption Calculation Based on TNB

How Does Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Calculate It?

First 200 kWh (1-200 kWh) per month: (200 x 21.8) /100 = RM43.60

Next 100kWh (201-300kWh) per month: (52.47999999999999 x 33.4) /100 = RM17.53

Estimated Bill: = RM61.13 – (ICPT RM5.05)

Electric Bill (air conditioner Only) = RM56.08

how to calculate electricity consumption
